The Merchant Hotel is the only AA approved Red 5* hotel in Northern Ireland, located in the heart of Belfast city centre’s historic Cathedral Quarter within walking distance to the main shops, bars, restaurants and visitor experiences.  Formerly the HQ of the Ulster Bank, this part Grade A listed property was sensitively restored to its original splendour and is now a harmonious blend of Victorian grandeur and Art Deco inspired sleek modernity, it is quite unlike anything currently available in Belfast.

With 62 highly appointed and elegant deluxe bedrooms and suites in 2 different room styles - the Victorian Splendour rooms are designed to reflect the Victorian heritage of the original building while the Art Deco inspired rooms reflect the very best of this era with sleek and elegant style.

There are a variety of drinking and dining options.  The Great Room Restaurant, located in the original banking hall is the jewel in the crown of the hotel, is home to our fine dining 2AA Rosette restaurant and where guests enjoy breakfast.  Berts Bar is Belfast’s only dedicated jazz bar with a French bistro style menu.  The Cloth Ear is our comfortable, cosy pub.  And our multi-award-winning cocktail bar boasts a cocktail list of biblical proportions.
